Our History
For lovers of chess that moves.
It all started with a frustration: a game board that was too bulky, pieces that fell off during travel, a game that remained at the bottom of a drawer. Dario, a passionate gamer and inveterate traveler, decided it was time to reconcile craftsmanship and portability.
Chess On-The-Go was born from the conviction that a beautiful chess set should accompany you everywhere, without compromising on quality, material, or aesthetics. Whether you're playing on a park bench, in a café, or between layovers, your chessboard should be up to the occasion.
Each set is sourced from European artisans specializing in fine woodworking. Our woods—beech, sheesham, and rosewood—are FSC-certified and crafted using traditional methods. N52 magnets ensure perfect stability during movement. The covers are hand-stitched and made of full-grain leather or premium canvas.
The Founder: Dario
Passionate about chess since childhood, Dario has always played everywhere: in parks, cafes, while traveling. But something was always missing: a chessboard that truly combined elegance, portability, and quality of play.
After years of searching for the ideal chessboard for his travels, Dario decided to create it himself. Chess On-The-Go was born from this vision: to offer nomadic players chessboards made of fine wood, with powerful magnets and premium covers, so they can live their passion everywhere.
Now based in Nice, Dario continues to travel with his chessboard, testing each prototype to guarantee perfection before each launch.
Our values:
Craftsmanship: Each chessboard is a carefully crafted piece, not a mass-produced item.
Mobility: Designed to be lightweight, compact, and travel-proof.
Durability: Noble materials that develop a patina over time and with use.
